March - Month of Kids

.

We really want to keep everyone motivated and focused as the weeks pass so we have decided each month to have a theme that we can all sew, knit and create handmade items. You can find the list of drop-off/postage points in the side bar.
This month we have chosen kids and babies - it could be toys or other comfort items. Don't forget the boys too. Any kind of softie, or blankies with the ribbons or dress-up clothes - you get the idea. If you have some suggestions please share in the comments. Keep in mind children's safety, if you use buttons, etc then it cannot be given to toddlers or babies.
Thanks to Liesl for the suggestion.

Hi, I have found a wealth of ideas and patterns here

http://sewing.about.com/library/weekly/aa031798.htm

Links include an organisation called Project Linus whose members make comfy (and safe) blankets of all types and sizes for sick or traumatised babies to teens. While they are based in the US, there are some great ideas there.

We are continuing to welcome would be bag sewers to our Brunswick sewing group on Wednesdays and Saturdays - see handmadehelpsout.blogspot.com/2009/02/sewing-group-for-rainbow-comfort-packs.html

On Wednesdays we have a volunteer who loves quilting, so she could help if you want to make a little quilt.
